TODAY, PASTOR GARY PRESENTS PART 4 of his sermon serieson the subject of the Sabbath titled “A Day to Remember.” The concept of Sabbath has been around for as long as recorded history. How has it changed over the centuries? Are Jews and Christians the only religious groups that observe a day of rest? Does God really care which day one observes as a Sabbath? Where is Jesus in all of this? Let’s all learn together.
AS YOU MAY HAVE HEARD, THE BURKS FAMILY moved to Fresno recently because of the city’s low-income housing availability. They moved into a modest home on Thursday, however, they own very few household items. If you have any new or gently used items that you would like to donate to the Burks family, it would truly help them find their footing in Fresno. Some examples of items they need are towels, kitchenware, beds, mattresses, bedding, and anything that a family with four young children might need. Brian Burks will be in town next weekend, so if you have anything to donate, please bring the items with you next Sabbath.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR JOHN THURBER will be livestreamed on the College View SDA Church Facebook page today beginning at 1:45 pm. The service will also be broadcast at the chapel at Paradise Village (2700 E 4th Street, National City, CA 91950). John is perhaps best known as second tenor of the King’s Heralds quartet with the Voice of Prophecy from 1961-1967 and his son, Mic, pastored our congregation just prior to Pastor Gary.
“SECRET FRIENDS,” sponsored by Hearts-To-Hearts, has started again and will last through the end of April. Contact Colleen Larsen (619) 850-3299 or Esther Alameddin (858) 692-7662 to sign up now. The reveal luncheon will be on May 4, following the worship service.
THE SOUTH BAY WOMEN AND CHILDREN’S SHELTER is currently housing a soon-to-be first-time mom of a baby girl. If you have a gently used stroller, pack-n-play, or newborn items you would like to donate to this family, please contact the church office.
A WEEKLY GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP meets on Tuesdays at 1:30 pm at the Paradise Village Library. Info at (619) 245-5845.
WE WILL BE PRODUCING A NEW CHURCH DIRECTORY this year and would love to include you in it! Please fill out the contact information card found in the pew in front of you and place it in the offering plate. You will have the chance to select which information you would like included in the new directory at a later date.
