WE ARE IN THE MIDST OF A SERMON SERIES titled Jesus: Israel’s Teacher. Jesus is the interpreter of scripture, and our worldview should come from Him. Mentally and spiritually, He is the healthiest person in the Bible; therefore, He is the model for “spiritual” Israel. We hope you are enjoying this summer series.
OUR SHELTER MINISTRY IS COLLECTING DONATIONS for those living in the South Bay Shelter. Monetary donations will be put toward purchasing back to school clothes, undergarments, shoes, socks, and backpacks for 45 children currently in the shelter. The Ministry is also collecting donations of “business clothes” for women living in the shelter to wear to job interviews.
A DEAR FORMER CHURCH MEMBER, FLORENCE ALLEN, passed away on Sunday, August 18, just two days shy of her 98th birthday. Florence moved to Springfield, Missouri five years ago and lived out her last years with her youngest daughter, Amy.
TEEN SABBATH BEGINS AGAIN next Sabbath, September 7, at 11:00 am in the Youth Room. Each month (during the school year), this group for 12–17-year-olds meets to worship, potluck with one another, and enjoy activities that lead to lasting memories and friendships. Our September 7 worship service will be followed by a picnic and outdoor activities at UTC’s Noble Recreation Center Park.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS to help at the breakfast bar on the second or fifth Sabbath each month. The 2nd Sabbath team needs someone to contribute fruit each month. We currently do not have a consistent team for the occasional 5th Sabbath. If you would like to form your own team or contribute a single dish (even just one time!), sign-ups are in our foyer.
FRIENDSHIPS FOR HOPE’S annual rummage sale is on September 1, 2, and 3, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (2701 E. 8th Street, National City).
