WE CONTINUE OUR SERMON SERIES TODAY on the subject of demons (or demonology). The desert eventually became a symbol of evil and death in Jewish theology. Their ancestors had lived for 40 years in the Sinai desert—and died there. And as soon as Jesus is baptized, He is driven into the desert—to encounter the Devil. We hope you are enjoying this new series.

OUR DEAR FRIEND, GEORGIA GILLIAM, passed away last week. Georgia and her husband Gene have been living in a nursing home in Medford, Oregon. Georgia loved this church family and usually watched our worship service online on Sabbath mornings. She was such a bright light in this congregation. She had a wonderful personality, an infectious laugh, and a terrific sense of humor. She will be greatly missed, and her memory will always be a blessed one. Please pray for Gene and their children during this extremely difficult time.

WE ARE IN NEED OF VOLUNTEERS to make and serve breakfast in two weeks on the fifth Sabbath of this month—August 29. If you would like to volunteer to bring a dish or help serve or clean up, please write your name down at the table in the foyer.

THE CHURCH BOARD HAS VOTED to make Ritchie and Lederle’s mission trips to the Philippines an official outreach activity of our church. If you would like to support this ministry at any time, please write “Carbajal Mission” on your offering envelope or when donating online.

WE ARE IN NEED OF VOLUNTEERS to give the opening prayer or the children’s story. Sign-ups are in the foyer.

THANK YOU FOR CONTINUING TO REMEMBER OUR CHURCH in your giving. We have some challenging expenses ahead of us this calendar year, and your help is greatly appreciated. Of great importance are roofing repairs in the Fellowship Hall, the repair of our baptistry, and much needed upgrades to our A/V system in the Fellowship Hall (we have a Southeastern California Conference meeting in the hall this coming October).
