PASTOR GARY BEGINS A TWO-PART SERMON SERIES today on the two distinctive features of our denomination’s name, the Sabbath and the Second Coming—or Advent—of Jesus. The name “Seventh-day Adventist Church” was not settled on lightly or quickly by the leadership in 1863. But it accurately described the two main doctrines of the believers at the time. Our sermon today deals with the earliest understanding of the Sabbath among our founders, their reliance on the Old Testament, and the influence of a Seventh-day Baptist lady. We hope you enjoy this series.
